The Winds of Change

When I wrote this article we were just a couple of weeks
into spring. All of Mother Nature was looking gloomy
but a least it was raining instead of snowing. All the
seasonal birds are back for the summer. It just doesn’t
seem like spring until you see you’re first robin.
Spring and summer
fishing trips are being planned. The boats are going
back to there favorite lakes for opener weekend.
A new bridge is being
built across the Mississippi. The look and feel of Sauk
Rapids will forever be changed. How that will turn out,
only time will tell.
Since this is an
election year, we now are getting all that political
advertising. The November elections should be very
important to us as union members because it could mean
the survival of our unions and the survival of our jobs
in this country.
The middle could
slowly disappear right in front of our eyes. Every day
we have to prove ourselves, working a little harder and
little faster just so we can hope that Corporate America
will keep our jobs in this country.
We have to take a
long hard look at the political candidates that are
running for office this November. Our unions are being
destroyed by the very people that we entrusted to run
this country.
The cost of living
goes up every day and our wages just stay the same or
decline. Our pensions are being ripped off by Corporate
America. Health insurance will be out of our reach if
big business gets there way.
So when the winds of
change come your way, what are we going to do? When
November comes, take the time to vote for political
candidates that have working union families’ values in
there best interest. |
